TAMA was one of the first manufacturers to offer super heavy-duty hardware, and drum mounting systems that did not intrude into the shell. TAMA's drums and hardware are world renowned as among the best available. TAMA Starclassic Performer B/B provides a sweet and deep hybrid tone, combining the focused attack of birch paired with the enhanced lows of bubinga. Bubinga wood, which TAMA introduced to the market, has become increasingly popular as a drum shell material.

Starclassic Performer B/B tom shells are 6mm thick with 4 outer plies of birch, and 3 inner plies of bubinga, while bass drum shells are 8mm thick with 5 outer plies of birch, and 3 inner plies of bubinga. With features like diecast hoops, the Starcast mounting system with Quick-Lock Tom brackets, and Evans heads, Starclassic Performer B/B is simply an unprecedented combination of sight and sound.
